Chalkboard wall

First things first, thank you SO much for the sweet words about the makeover! I was pretty nervous with it, because ya know the rule. Don't fix what isn't broken, and the old design was just fine. But I was ready for something new. Glad ya'll like it. I was sweating bullets for a minute.

Thought I'd drop in with a little face lift I did this weekend. Just for kicks and giggles.

And....Go.

Take a look here at this plain boring wall. I'd walked past it one too many times and was too irritated with it I pulled out our can of chalkboard paint and went to town with the worlds smallest paint brush.

When I get an idea, it must be done. Now.

1. Whip out the chalkboard paint
2. Paint it on
3. Forget to photograph that process
4. Let the paint cure, then rub the whole thing with chalk so that when you go to write on it, it doesn't "stick"

  5. Rub it in and get uber dusty.

Be semi-embarrassed of your two fingernails that are sort-of painted...eek. I'm a nail polish picker, what can I say? :)

Let the dog get his picture taken, like always weirdo.

It's a nice little splash of fun in our house I think. The entry way already had the fun chalkboard tags goin' on and this is just a bigger version of it. :)

On another note, I think I need a new camera.. These pictures royally suck.
Just being honest.
Don't judge. :)

What have YOU slapped chalkboard paint on lately?

I want to paint something chalkboard here at my house or at daughter's (where she has 6 year old twins) but haven't done it yet.

I love yours and you have it in a great spot. Wonderful for reminders!

I love it! I haven't used it yet, for fear of how it will hold up in the long run. You will have to keep us posted :)

On another note - loving the new look to your blog!

So awesome. I love it! Also, your pics are great! Don't worry about that. Unless, you just want a new camera and need a good excuse, in which case, your pics suck! Haha.
I love picasa for just editing my pics up to my liking :)

I love that there's a mini resurgence in chalkboard paint lately because I looove the stuff, but I was starting to feel so last summer using that stuff all the time! It looks super!

This is fantastic! Perfect location next to the door for notes, too!

that is fantastic! I have been wanting to make a chalkboard wall for a while now but just don't have the courage... our walls are textured just a bit so I'm not sure how it would work. Are your walls textured at all?

Love it! I have a wall right by my back door that would be perfect for this. :) Actually, I just made a chalkboard. I am planning to make a couple more too.

I wouldlove to put chalk board paint on flower pots to label them, herb pots too. I would love to do a wall similar to yours in the kitchen for the kids to color on but while my daughter would totally get the limits of where she can color I doubt the little boy about to enter our world would get that concept. Boys rarely do get boundaries. I have five brothers, I know.

I'm a boring mom. I won't put up a chalkboard wall a.n.y.w.h.e.r.e. in my house because i don't want the dusty mess that I know my kids will make of it. lol Maybe one day I'll just "get over it". lol xoxo

You are so smart!! What a great great use for that wall and it looks great!!

I'm helping with a project and have been asking around to borrow chalkboards. none of my homeschooling friends have them-they use white boards. I am really really hoping my friends are secretly stingy liars. I LOVE CHALKBOARDS!! I havent painted any yet. But I am really really thinking about it:)

I'm pretty sure that wall was meant to be a chalkboard wall. It's the perfect space for it! I love it.

How cute, and so much fun!!
I love it that your doggy made it into the photo. It always seems like one of our cats gets photographed when I'm taking pictures of our home. I don't think they want to be left out! :)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Beth.

What a fun way to use that little section of wall! Could I use this as my "Regular Homes and Gardens" feature for Thursday?
