Should I be freaked out?

Whew, someone sent me this link, and this one I think we're all good.

Knuckle bumps yo. My picture OUR pictures arent on some nasty website.. Whew!

Can't believe this is happening to so many others..Geesh!

Within minutes ya'll gave me a response , gosh you guys rock.

Okay, so all my techy friends this question is for you. When glancing at my hits this week on blogger stats, and Google analytics.. I noticed that a bunch of hits were coming from a shortened link goo.gl something..

Okay, that's not the weird part.

When I clicked on it, it was a dating site.. A dirty one
Um.
..K?
Then the next day more came in, from a DIFFERENT site. Now it's up to 100 of hits in a day from these two sites. Why? Is my picture out there? My link? Is it hacked? What's going on. Should I worry?

Help.

Love,
Non-swinging-freaked out blogger.

I noticed the exact same thing with my stats. I avoid clicking anything with that name in the link now. What is going on?

The same with me too, don't know what it could be. Glad you said something, I thought it was just me.

Ha. Glad I'm not the only one. I was getting a major complex. I was beginning to think the people at Adult Friend Finder were stalking me through my blog. Yikes.

I looked it up, and it seems this is a common problem with blogger. :(

Eek! Having a professional blog has clued me in to all this crazy stuff - and it's wacky, with scripts making all kinds of spammy connections. Luckily, if you don't publish it, there's no real connection for anyone to see.

Our site too! I was really freaked out last night! I had my sisters check it out the it's a spam and phishing scam to get people to hit on their site. I guess you can do something about it to protect your site. I was ready to delete every picture of my kids. Yuck. Our brother deals with stuff like this so hopefully he has some good advice.

A friend of mine out here just emailed me a day ago and asked if it were happening to me...I said NO not at this point. However, what I think is happening is they pick up key words...she has two dogs names Nikki and Nelly, apparently they are very nasty girls if you get my drift...so it could be key words or names that these site are picking up on....

I noticed it on my hits starting last week and I about had a stroke! I went to one of the sites and saw a naked lady right off the bat...well she really wasn't a lady in my opinion!! I called my niece who is an ITS specialist for the school system and she thinks it is just spam!

Yikes! That is very freaky! That hasn't happened to me, but now I'll know what to look for! It sounds like it's pretty common judging from the other comments.

Um, I don't know but I hope somebody responds to you that knows what's up. I just checked my referring url's and the creepy one is there too. Yuck. I am not sure what to do but feel like I need to lock down my blog more securely somehow. :(

Also, recently I'm getting traffic from a voy dot com site. I think it is a message board, but I'm not sure and don't want to start exploring it to much (given what's been going on). Anyone know much about that site?

Don't quote me on this, but most of those shortened links come from Twitter. Because you're only allowed 140 characters, most Twitter programs shorten the link. Due to the amount of links posted, the shortened link gets recycled. So the original one must have been posted by a fan of yours that wanted her/his followers to look at something cool on your blog. After awhile the link would have been recycled and used for someone spammy McSpammerson on Twitter who was linking to some other not cool site.

For example your link looks like it comes from a Twitter program called Twitgoo - hence the "goo" part of the link.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I never thought of looking at where people come from on my site meter. Makes sense. Thankfully it all looks good on mine. Thanks again for sharing this. :)

Dude! I was so freaked out when I clicked on the link and was sent to a porn site! Yikes! I was wondering if there was a photo of me or a link to my site, but didn't want to surf around to find out. **Shudders**

So glad that it's just spammers!

Hi Rachelle & All,

Here are two articles I came across on one of my fave sites, The Real Blogger Status, that should help put your minds at ease concerning this issue:

1) Referer Spam Is Needlessly Alarming Blog Owners

2)All Shortened URLs Are Not Malicious Content

Have a great day!
