Feature Yourself....Saturday!

Day late, dollar short.

;)

This week has been CRAZY planning a little surprise for next week. The Mr. and I are taking a much needed week to ourselves to go celebrate.. 1.) Being married. 2.) Peace and quiet 3.) Happiness.

This past year has been so nuts that we decided we needed a little time to get away for some fun. We're going to take our first cruise so if you have any tips for newbies.. We'll gladly take them! :) I've been trying to research as much as I can but any other brilliant things I need to know would be lovely.

So let's get this party started shall we? We shall!

we honeymooned on Royal Carribean - I have nothing bad to say about it. It was great!

1. Choose second seating (late) dining (assuming you're going without kids) if the cruise you are taking is not open dining. Gives you more time on shore and to relax after coming aboard before rushing to dinner.

2. Get a balcony. It's so nice to wake up in the morning when you come to port and sit on the deck having a coffee or having your breakfast. And to have pre-dinner happy hour!

3. If you are a big pop (soda) drinker, most cruise lines sell a package deal where you get unlimited pop for the trip for a certain price.

4. Drinks are expensive - some cruise lines aren't that stricked about bringing (sneaking) any booze on to have in your cabin (read: happy hour!)

5. If you are interested in any spa services (massage, etc) try and book early. Some cruise lines if they aren't busy will offer some last minute deals as well.

6. If the ship you are going on, has alternative dining options (smaller restaurants), you have to make reservations - so try and book as soon as you get on the ship. They charge extra for these (ie. $25 per person). I don't always find it's worth it - depends on the ship and restaurant.

7. If you want to go on organized shore excursions - again, book early (you can do online before you even leave) as the popular ones book up fast. You can check out shoretrips.com - they offer the same excursions and usually cheaper as it doesn't include the cruiseline's mark up. That being said some of the best times I've had was just getting a taxi and driving around the islands of where you are going. You get a personalized tour without all the other people around you :)

Enjoy!

If you can... a balcony is well worth the extra money. Best money we spent....
Shore excusions are expensive & can be done cheaper, by finding private tours...though we had more fun on our own, exploring the towns...
& a travel coffee mug...I am a coffee drinker & though it is free... you can fill it up & take it with you, rather than the small cups...
Oh, you are going to have fun...
tell us all about it when you get back.. : )

Thanks for another link party! I linked up a healthy and tasty, "Hummus Among Us" Recipe (#164). This is a great last minute snack when those unexpected guests stop by. Hope you like it! Have a great week!
